The Rowing Canal in the city of Plovdiv is a sports facility for rowing. It is the largest of its kind in the Balkans where rowing competitions can be held. The channel is 2 200 meters long, 120 meters wide and three meters deep.
The location of the canal was estimated very precisely to be surrounded by the natural forests, offering fair and equal conditions in all lanes. In addition to that the direction of the course is East / West, which is parallel to the direction of the prevailing winds. The spectators can enjoy the sports events from the renovated 800 seats grandstand. The rowing canal is part of the Regatta Venue which is a unique sports center in the north-western part of the city. The center includes a stadium, a rowing canal, a covered swimming pool, bicycle lane, opened and covered tennis courts and athletics track.
